How to read these prices

The "from" price is the lowest effective monthly rate, which almost always requires paying for a multi-year term upfront. The billing column shows how each plan renews — often at two to four times the intro rate. We pull both numbers from each provider's own pricing page and date them; see the methodology, and always confirm the live price before buying.

Frequently asked questions

Why is the VPN renewal price higher than the deal price?
Almost every VPN advertises a low rate that requires paying for two or three years upfront. When that term ends, most renew at a much higher annual rate — for example a $3-a-month deal can renew near $11–$15 a month. The billing column above shows each provider's renewal so there are no surprises.
What is the cheapest VPN overall?
On entry price, Surfshark and Private Internet Access sit at the bottom, both around a couple of dollars a month on a multi-year term, and both include unlimited devices. Sort by price above to see the current order. Remember to weigh the renewal rate, not just the intro price.
Is a long-term VPN plan worth it?
A 2-year plan gives the lowest monthly rate but locks you in and renews higher. If you only need a VPN briefly, the 30-day money-back guarantee most providers offer is a lower-risk way to try one. For long-term use, the multi-year term is usually the better value — just diarise the renewal.
